How New Weight Loss Breakthroughs Work without Exercise or Food Rationing

Most people know that weight loss is a function of burning more calories and/or reducing caloric intake.

But when it comes to achieving either of these on a consistent long term basis, our modern lifestyle and our genetics conspire to make it seemingly impossible.

For starters we are wired to eat as much as we can whenever we can. It's our body's ancient response to living in a world of scarce food resources. Combine this with today's high-fat diet and our sedentary lifestyle and it's easy to see why weight management is one of the greatest health challenges we face in the modern era.

For decades now, doctors and researchers have been seeking the magic bullet to solve this dilemma. The past solutions they have come up with have been less than ideal. Fat blockers, appetite suppressing stimulants and food rationing plans all have dismal success rates for a variety of reasons. For a long time, there was very little good news when it came to weight loss.

But now, things are finally beginning to change. Doctors are starting to break out of the exercise/food rationing box and are achieving stunning results.

Two very effective new approaches tackle the problem from very different angles. The first, the so-called "lap-band" works physically to reduce the capacity of the stomach while the second deals with the appetite control center of the brain to reduce a person's craving for food and their tendency to overeat.

The lap-band approach is a fairly intense surgical procedure recommended only for people that are at least 50 pounds overweight. Because of the risks and expense related to surgery and recovery the lap band is a solution that's definitely not for all.

The second approach, however, can work for everyone, regardless of whether you want to lose a few pounds or a lot. It deals directly with the brain's proclivity to overeat. It's an approach that has health professionals very excited because it can seemingly help a person achieve significant weight loss without exercise or a special diet.

One of the first companies to launch a product that relies on this new approach is called Sensa. Developed by the neuroscientist Dr. Emil Hirsch, Sensa is a virtually odorless and tasteless food sprinkle. It contains chemicals called "tastants" that have a powerful restraining effect on the brain's appetite control center. It effectively tricks the brain into feeling satiated well before it normally would.

These "tastants" were recently subjected to one of the largest clinical studies of a non-prescription weight loss product and the results were significant. Over a 6 month period, 1,436 women and men sprinkled these flavorless "tastant" crystals on everything they ate, and lost an average of 30.5 pounds - nearly 15% of their total body weight.

Participants achieved these results without having to follow any special exercise regime or diet. According to Dr Hirsch, "With Sensa, you can eat all the foods that satisfy your senses and you don't have to deal with any intense food cravings or feelings of starvation. Sensa merely helps you eat less of the foods you love and gain greater satisfaction from smaller portions, without any side-effects."

Real weight loss without diet and exercise - too good to be true? Apparently the company anticipated a somewhat skeptical response from consumers so they have launched the Sensa Challange.

They are so sure you will lose weight with Sensa that new customers get to use the product for 30 days so that you can see real weight loss before deciding if they want to pay for it or not.
